The Walbro HDA186 carb features a spring-loaded control arm, plus a heat shield that improves starting reliability by controlling carb temperatures.
An overflow/relief valve automatically removes fuel build-up when the engine idles excessively.

Compression relief valves on both cylinders open to ease starting, but automatically close when the BT-86 catches. Valves can be operated manually, or by remote control for enclosed-cowl installations.
